Social Entrepreneurship as "Agency" in a Global Capitalist Economy...

In this chapter, the word “agency” is defined as the actions and effects of human actors. (Page 140). Social entrepreneurs present agency because they influence people in the process of globalization. They are the hallmark that connects society with other institutions and works together towards these more extensive missions. “…social justice and social change are pursued globally when economics and finance seem to rule.” (Page 119.) Social entrepreneurs appear to find out when injustice is happening around the world, and they are the ones who take action in these situations. Entrepreneurs recognize the gaps in the economy and analyze the inequality it can cause and the environmental degradation it can cause. Their work as “agents” in the capitalist economy is to find ways to work with this economy. Then they fill out these gaps that the economy has and correct the inequalities created in the business.
